  • Dacryosérum and anti-biotic eye ointment Ophtalon

  • Sulmidol anti-biotic ointment: good healing ointment, very greasy, keeps flies off
  • Cothivet : wound spray; keeps insects off
  • Vetebiol gel (originally Vegebom) : very good protection against simulidæ in the ears, and for the areas of friction before we had the talcum powder
  • Butox : insecticide and insectifuge to be diluted, carried with a small bottle, a sponge and disposable gloves. Ideal against tick invasions, but was not needed in the end!

  • Talcum powder – bought en route after advice by our friend Sylvie; to avoid friction on the horses: under the girth, the breast collar, the breeching, saddle pressure points and the saddle bags. The talc was applied before each saddling uo.
