I read this article several months ago and really should have linked to it then – a discussion on Facebook made me think of it again.
An article by Linda Chamberlain about the founder of Thunderbrooks feed company and how illness in her horses appeared to be caused by weedkillers and other agricultural sprays.
Although I do not support Thunderbrooks nor any other feed company (horses feed ±15 times a day and supplemental feeding is a possible cause of food envy and cannot compensate for continually changing imbalances in mineral content in the local environment), the article is very important with respect to the possible dangers of spraying weedkiller on and around pastures – or anywhere for that matter.
